Walking The Edge of Sanity's Ledge

Walking the edge of Sanity's ledge-
Wondering how you've been,
Knowing you can only go on-
Never to where you've been.
Looking around, your eyes open wide,
Wondering when- if ever- you'll slide.
Fighting continually to stay here and now,
Knowing only the "if's" and the "how's"-
The "when's" and the "why's"-
No matter who's side-
You've realized, it's an exciting ride.
Always unknowing, slowly you're going-
Somehow you have arrived.
Walking the edge of Sanity's ledge-
Wondering how you survived.
The "up's" and the "down's"-
The twists around,
Trying to follow the plot.
Going in circles, screaming and whirling-
and never does it stop.
But fearing the slowing-
Never you knowing, exactly where you're not.
Wildly dreaming, frantically scheming-
Fighting for all you've got.
Suddenly sliding-
Surely you're gliding-
Afraid to swallow the knot.
Heart in your throat, you've opened your eyes-
Suddenly beginning to gloat-
For surely you're there, but you don't despair-
Because Sanity's not so hot.
The Dead, and the Dying-
Screaming and crying-
Are noises in the wind.
Nothing can hurt you-
Nothing can stop you...
Walking the edge of Sanity's ledge.
Leaving it all behind.
